Douglas Scott Franklin, Head of Ballet
Douglas trained at the Edinburgh School of Dance & Drama & attended regular company classes with the Scottish Ballet Company. On winning a Scholarship to the London Studio Centre he continued his Classical training with Anya Evans (New York City Ballet & The Royal Ballet). Whilst in training he won the James Milne Memorial Scholarship to study with the Kirov Ballet Company in Leningrad.
Douglas has performed with The Scottish Ballet, The London City Ballet & The Carla Fracci Company in Palermo, Sicily. Other work includes Turandot Opera, Nixon In China & The Fairy Queen (ENO)
Douglas has had a varied commercial theatre career. Musical Theatre credits include West End and National Tours of CATS, WEST SIDE STORY, CHICAGO, COPACABANA, THE KING & I, BUDDY, BOMBAY DREAMS, & THE ROYAL HUNT OF THE SUN (National Theatre). He has appeared in many Royal Variety Performances, Pop Videos & TV Commercials. Douglas has always combined his performing career with a commitment to teaching the next generation of dancers.
